Turn Off Windows Defender SmartScreen On Windows 10

The Windows Defender SmartScreen helps protect your computer by checking for unrecognized apps and files from the internet, malicious sites, and content. By default, the SmartScreen is set to warn you if it detected undesirable connection to a website while browsing the internet. It is recommended to turn off the SmartScreen to make the browsing faster and if it has become annoying as long as you practice safe browsing by not downloading files and programs from unpopular websites. The load on the computer will also be lessen by turning of the SmartScreen because there will be lesser activities to process.

Here are the steps to turn off the Windows Defender SmartScreen on Windows 10.

1. Right-click on the START button that is usually located at the bottom left corner of the screen and click on SETTINGS option.


2. Scroll down the Windows Settings window by using the scroll bar on the right edge if all options are not showing.


3. Click on the UPDATE & SECURITY category.


4. Click the WINDOWS SECURITY category on the left pane.


5. Click the APP & BROWSER CONTROL category.


6. Click the radio button labeled OFF of the "Check app and files" option.


7. Click the radio button labeled OFF of the "SmartScreen for Microsoft Edge" option.


8. Click the radio button labeled OFF of the "SmartScreen for Microsoft Store apps" option.


9. Click the red X icon that is located at the top right corner of the Windows Defender Security Center window.
