Display Delete Confirmation When Deleting Files & Folders On Windows 10

The Recycle Bin is the place where the Windows 10 operating system put the files and folders that you delete. The Recycle Bin is represented by an icon that looks like a trash can located at the top left corner of the Desktop view. By default, the Windows 10 will automatically put the files and folders that you delete to the Recycle Bin without asking if you really want to send them there. It is best to set the operating system to ask you first if you really want to delete a file or folder so that this will prevent inadvertently deleting them. There are times you will not notice that you just accidentally hit the DEL key on the keyboard and deleting files unknowingly. It maybe a little bit annoying sometimes to be warned every time you delete something but it is best to be safe than sorry.

Here are the steps to set Windows 10 to display the delete confirmation dialogue window every time you delete a file or folder.

1. Right-click on the RECYCLE BIN icon that is usually located at the top left corner of the Desktop view, and then choose PROPERTIES option.

2. Click on the drive where you want the setting to be applied, in this case, click on the LOCAL DISK (C:) to highlight it.

3. Click the tick box labeled "Display delete confirmation dialog" to put a check in it.

4. Click the OK button to save the setting.
