The Google Chrome software is an open source web browser that is based on the Chromium engine. You can use the Google Chrome to download all kinds of files on the internet and it will automatically save them to the Download folder of the Windows operating system. You can set this web browser to always ask you where you want to save each file before downloading them. In this way, you can organize your files right away instead of doing it later by transferring them one by one. Hopefully, the future versions of web browsers will give us the option to automatically save each type of files to their specific folders just like how it is done on the Internet Download Manager (IDM) software.
Here are the steps to set the Google Chrome web browser version 84.0 for Windows to always ask where to save each file before downloading them. These steps are just the same or similar to fairly older or newer versions.
1. Click the CUSTOMIZE AND CONTROL icon that looks like three horizontal dots arranged vertically that is located at the top right corner of the Google Chrome window, and then click on SETTINGS option.
2. Click the ADVANCED option on the left pane. (Maximize the Google Chrome window if the left pane is not present.)
3. Click the DOWNLOADS category.
4. Click the switch labeled "Ask where to save each file before downloading" to turn it on.
5. Click the X button that is located at the top right corner.
