Fix Images/Pictures Not Showing On Webpages On Google Chrome 84.0

Images and videos have become important content of webpages in many ways that the phrase "A Picture Paints a Thousand Words" rings true. A webpage will never be complete if the images on it are not showing up and this problem can be caused by the setting of the web browser or if the images at the server are not accessible. If the browser setting was set to hide images, all images on all webpages that you visit will not show up including thumbnails of the videos and images on advertisements. By default, the web browser setting is set to show images on webpages. On the other hand, you or someone in the household may have inadvertently turned off the images in the settings, or an extension that you installed changed the settings on the browser.

The images are not showing up but only black square boxes.

Here are the steps to set the Google Chrome web browser version 84.0 for Windows to show images on webpages. The steps are just the same or similar to fairly older or newer versions.

1. Click the CUSTOMIZE AND CONTROL icon that looks like three dots arranged vertically located at the top right corner of the Google Chrome window, and then click on SETTINGS option.

2. Click the PRIVACY AND SECURITY category on the left pane. (Maximize the Google Chrome window if the left pane is not present.)

3. Click the SITE SETTINGS category on the right pane.

4. Scroll down the Site Settings page by using the scroller on the right edge of the Google Chrome window until you reach the Content category.

5. Click the IMAGES option.

6. Click the switch currently labeled "Do not show any images" to turn it on.

7. Click the X icon of the Settings tab.

8. Click the REFRESH icon located at the left hand side of the Toolbar to reload the webpage to show the images.

All the images on the webpage are now showing up.
