Reset Opera Version 68 Settings To Default While Preserving Personal Data

The Opera software is one of the popular web browsers for personal computers that boast features not regularly present on other browsers. Other than having rich features such as Speed Dial, Ad Blocker, Anti-Bitcoin mining tool, extended VR360 support for Oculus, Chromecast and a bunch of other cool features, you can still extend its capability by installing extensions. You can restore your browser settings in Opera at any time if extensions you installed changed your settings without your knowledge. You can also fiddle on the settings of the browser to see if what they can do on your browsing experience. Likewise, you can reset the Opera settings to their defaults if you experience problems accessing websites such as freezing or hanging, showing outdated information, and so on.

Here are the steps to reset the settings of the Opera web browser version 68 to their defaults. This process will revert your search engine to its default, remove pinned tabs, and erase cookies and temporary internet files. This will not uninstall your extensions but they will just be turned off and you can turn them on afterwards. This process will not erase your bookmarks, browsing history, and saved forms and passwords. The steps are just the same or similar to fairly older or newer versions of the Opera web browser.

1. Click the CUSTOMIZE AND CONTROL icon that looks like the Opera icon located at the top left corner of the Opera web browser window.

2. Click the UPDATE & RECOVERY... option.

3. Click the RECOVER... button under the "Recovery" category.

4. Make sure that the radio dial labeled "Keep my data and only reset Opera settings." is the one chosen. Click the RECOVER button.
