The "Sorry, there was a problem mounting the file." error message appeared when mounting an ISO file after making a copy of it to a portable drive. The copy ISO file that is on the portable drive works fine but the original one does not mount. You should not also try to burn an ISO file to a disc if you are getting the "Sorry, there was a problem mounting the file." message because the burning will not become successful, the burning process will proceed but it will not work as expected. In my case, this will not be a problem because I have a working copy of the ISO file that is on the portable drive but this will be a problem if I passed the portable drive to another person and it is not possible to reach that person right away. The resolution to this is problem is actually easy by simply making a copy of the ISO file that is giving this error to another folder.
