As time goes by, you will accumulate many bookmarked websites and it is recommended that you make a backup copy from time so that you can restore them should you need to reinstall the web browser or the operating system. You can also use the backup copy to transfer your bookmarks to another computer. The Mozilla Firefox web browser saves the Bookmarks section as a JSON file, the acronym stands for JavaScript Object Notation, which is based on the JavaScript programming language. The JSON file is a simple readable text file that is used for storing data and can be used on many programming languages. The JSON file is the choice file format for storing data on the Mozilla Firefox browser which unfortunately cannot be used on other browsers that are Chromium based like Google Chrome, Opera, and Brave.
Here are the steps to make a backup copy of the Bookmarks on Mozilla Firefox version 76 as JSON file, the steps are just the same or similar on fairly older or newer versions.
1. Click the LIBRARY icon that looks like books in a shelf located at the right end of the Mozilla Firefox toolbar, then click on BOOKMARKS option. (Alternatively, you can press the CTRL and SHIFT keys of the keyboard at the same time, while pressing them, hit the letter B key. Jump to Step 3 afterwards.)

3. Click the "Import and Backup" pull down menu and choose BACKUP... option.
