Backup Or Export Favorites/Bookmarks Of Google Chrome

Most if not all browsers, have a way of saving the web addresses of websites. Instead of memorizing the web addresses of each websites, you can save them in one section of the browser so that you can simply go back to them, and click them to go to the website. This is like the contacts list of your cellular phone, instead of memorizing each of the telephone numbers of people, you just save them on the phone's contacts list, go back to them anytime, choose the contact you need to call and simply press a button to dial the number. Unlike before, you actually need to memorize each telephone numbers of your contacts and dial them manually on the phone. On the Google Chrome browser, the saved web addresses are called bookmarks. As time goes by, you may accumulate many bookmarks and it is a very good practice that you keep a backup copy of them. In this way, you can reinstall Google Chrome or the operating system of your computer without losing your bookmarks.

Here are the steps to backup or export the bookmarks of the Google Chrome browser version 70. The steps are just the same on older or newer versions.

1. Type chrome://bookmarks/ into the web address box of the Google Chrome window. (Alternatively, you can press the CTRL and the SHIFT keys of the keyboard, while pressing them, hit the letter O key.)

2. Click the ORGANIZE button on the top right area of the Bookmarks page.

3. Click EXPORT BOOKMARKS option.

4. By default, the file will be named bookmarks with the current date appended at the end of it and it will be saved in the My Documents or Documents folder depending on your operating system. You can elect to choose a different folder to save the file and or type a different file name. Click the SAVE button.
