Determine Computer's Processor (CPU), Memory (RAM), & Type (32-Bit/64-Bit) On Windows 8.1

The processor or the Central Processing Unit (CPU) is the brain of the computer that processes all the activities. The memory or Random Access Memory (RAM) is where the processor temporarily store the data it processes. You can think of the CPU as a baker making bread and the RAM is the table where the baker makes the bread. Many years ago, computers run on 32-bit processing which is already good enough. Since modern computing now requires big data to process, the 64-bit computing is needed so that the processor will be able to handle more data to process. You can think of it as the baker having more arms to make bread. There are programs that require high system specifications like fast processor, high memory, and type of processing whether 32-bit or 64-bit. These kinds of programs are usually games, computer aided design, animations, motion picture processing, and even the operating system itself. Before installing a program especially a top tier game like Call Of Duty and alike, you need to make sure that your computer meets the system requirements so that the program will run as expected.

Here are the steps to determine the system specifications of the computer on Windows 8.1 operating system.

1. Right-click on the START button usually located at the bottom left corner of the screen and choose SYSTEM option. Alternatively, you can press the WINDOWS key on the keyboard which is in between the CTRL and ALT keys, while pressing it, hit the PAUSE BREAK key.

The System window will now open and you will see the basic system specifications of the computer, in this case, the Processor is an AMD E2-6110 APU with AMD Radeon R2 Graphics 1.50 GHz, the installed Memory (RAM) is 2 GB, and the System Type is 64-bit.
