The KMPlayer or Korean Media Player is a very good media player that can play all media files, if not almost, and their motto is "We play all". The interface is beautifully designed and intuitive to use too. When watching movies, the experience will be better if you have subtitles of the conversations of the people in the movie so that you can follow every tidbits of what is happening. Even if the movie is in your native language, there will be a time that you will not understand some of the words that were said, let alone if you are watching a movie that is in foreign language or your second language. Subtitles are also helpful in fully grasping the context of the movie especially if the movie is about medical story, like the movie "Contagion" which is about an outbreak of a novel virus. Subtitles are also helpful if you are watching movies about engineering and space exploration. Subtitle files have the .SRT extension names. If the movie file came with its own .SRT file, and both the movie and the subtitle files have identical file names, the KMPlayer will automatically load the subtitle for the movie. If the movie file and the .SRT file have different file names, you must manually load the subtitle file into the KMPlayer for the movie that you will be watching.
Here are the steps to load the subtitle file on KMPlayer.
1. Once the movie is playing in the KMPlayer, right-click on any part of the KMPlayer window, choose SUBTITLES option, then choose LOAD SUBTITLE....

2. In the dialogue window that opened, choose the subtitle file that you want to use if you have more than one for the movie that you are watching. Then click OPEN button.

If the subtitle is not playing after you loaded it into the KMPlayer for the movie that you are watching, you will need to toggle the subtitle option to "On". You can toggle the subtitle "On" and "Off" by pressing the ALT key on the keyboard, while pressing it, hit the letter X key. If the subtitle is still not playing after toggling it on, make sure that the .SRT file is not empty, you can check this through the subtitle explorer. To open the subtitle explorer, press the ALT key on the keyboard, while pressing it, hit the letter Q key.
