Missing Internet Explorer Icon On Windows XP Desktop

The Internet Explorer is the default browser of the Windows XP operating system. There are many ways to access the Internet Explorer and the most prominent one is through the desktop view. The desktop view the very first screen that will appear after you turn the computer, it consists of shortcut icons to easily launch an application. The Windows XP has a setting where you can show or hide the Internet Explorer icon since it is one of the default icons of the desktop. If the Internet Explorer icon is missing from the desktop view, the first place to check is at the desktop setting.

Here are the steps to make the Internet Explorer icon to appear on the desktop view.

1. Right-click on any free area of the desktop and choose PROPERTIES option.


2. Click the DESKTOP tab.


3. Click the CUSTOMIZE DESKTOP... button.


4. Click the check box labeled "Internet Explorer" to put a check in it.


5. Click OK button.


6. Click the OK button of the Display Properties dialogue box to finally apply the setting.


The Internet Explorer icon is now showing on the desktop.
