Laptop With Windows 8.1 Does Not Wake On LAN

The Wake on LAN is a networking feature that can turn on a computer through another computer on a network. The power options of the Windows 8.1 operating system has a Fast Startup feature so that the computer can start quickly from sleep and also to wait for signals to start the computer remotely via the Wake on LAN. If your laptop is running on a battery, the Fast Startup feature consumes a little amount of energy while the laptop is turned off for it to be able to receive signals from a remote computer. Because of this, you may notice that the life span of the battery charge is shorter than usual. If in case you are not able to turn on your laptop from another computer on a network, one of the possible causes of this is that the Fast Startup feature of the power options is turned off that is why the Wake on LAN is not working.

Here are the steps to turn on the Fast Startup feature of the power options of the Windows 8.1 operating system so that you can use the Wake on LAN.
