Change Password Of Other Standard User Account On Windows 8.1

The Standard User account of the Windows 8.1 operating system is a sign on account that can have its own password and it can be set up by the Administrator account. The Standard User account can do almost anything on the computer other than the things that will affect other users as well as installing software and changing security settings that may require administrator rights. Creating Standard User accounts for other users of your computer like at home is advisable so that they will not be able to mess with the system files that will cause problems on the operating system as well as for privacy reasons. The Administrator account can always change the password of other Standard User accounts even if the holder of the Administrator account does not know their passwords. This is useful if you want to ground the other users temporarily.

Here are the steps to change the password of a Standard User account through the Administrator account. (Make sure that you are currently logged on to the Administrator account to accomplish these steps.)

1. Right-click the START button and click CONTROL PANEL option.

2. Click the CHANGE ACCOUNT TYPE link under the "User Accounts and Family Safety" category.

3. Click the Standard User account that you want to change its password.

4. Click the CHANGE THE PASSWORD link.

5. Type the new password into the "New password" and into the "Confirm new password" field boxes.

6. Click the CHANGE PASSWORD button.
