Turn Off Sound Through Device Manager On Windows 8.1

There are many different ways to turn off the sound of the computer, other than turning off the speakers, you can also turn off the sound by muting the Volume Control that is located in the Notification Area (System Tray) of the Windows 8.1 Taskbar. Another way to turn off the sound of the computer is by disabling the sound driver through the Device Manager. The Device Manager lists the hardware components of the computer and manages their software drivers. When you disable the driver of a hardware component, the hardware will stop responding, thus, if you disable the driver of the sound device, there will be no sound that will come out of the computer, and the programs that uses the sounds, like a media player may report that the sound driver is needed to be installed.

1. Right-click the START button and choose DEVICE MANAGER option.


2. Look for the SOUND, VIDEO AND GAME CONTROLLERS and double-click it to expand the list.


3. Right-click each items under the "Sound, Video and game controllers" and disable them, which in this case, right-click on AMD HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO DEVICE and choose DISABLE option.


4. Click YES button.


5. Right-click on REALTEK HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO and choose DISABLE option.


6. Click YES button.


7. Click YES button to restart the computer.
