Restart Firefox 38.0.5 In Safe Mode

The newer versions of the Firefox browser have options to restart them in Safe Mode, much like the Safe Mode of the Windows operating system, where the Firefox browser will load with Add-ons disabled. The Add-ons are the extensions and themes that provides additional features to the Firefox browser and they can be added or removed from it. The Safe Mode feature is very helpful in troubleshooting the Firefox browser to verify if one of the Add-ons is causing a problem. You may experience that after installing an extension or theme, the Firefox browser becomes slower or it could be freezing, and by restarting the Firefox browser in Safe Mode, it will temporarily disable all extensions and themes until you restart the the Firefox browser again. If the problem you are experiencing did not manifest after restarting the Firefox browser in Safe Mode, this verifies that one of the Add-ons installed is causing the problem. The Safe Mode feature is also very helpful if you are unable to uninstall an extension or theme by normal method because you cannot access the Add-ons manager or if the Remove button of a certain Add-on is disabled. With this kind of problem, you can restart the Firefox browser in Safe Mode and then try to uninstall the problematic Add-on.

Here are the steps to restart the Firefox 38.0.5 in Safe Mode.

1. Click the HELP menu on the Firefox toolbar (or hit the ALT key on the keyboard, then press the letter H key) and choose RESTART WITH ADD-ONS DISABLED... option.

2. Click the RESTART button.

3. Click the START IN SAFE MODE button.
