Remove Windows 8.1 Sign On Account Password

The Sign On accounts of the Windows 8.1 operating system are user specific and they can vary from Administrator account, Standard account, and the Guest account. Each of these accounts have certain capabilities where the Administrator account is setup when you install the Windows 8.1 operating system and it can do anything on the computer like installing software, changing security settings, controlling other accounts, etc. On the other hand, the Standard and the Guest account can almost do everything on the computer except for some limitations. It is recommend that you put a password to the Administrator account so that other people cannot simply change anything on the computer. This will be very helpful especially if you are using a laptop and carry it at school or work. On the other hand, if you are the only person who is using your computer, you can remove the password of a secured account so that you will be directly taken to the desktop every time you turn on the computer.

Here are the steps to remove the password of a Sign On account on Windows 8.1. Please be reminded that you should know your current password to accomplish this and that these steps are not applicable for forgotten Sign On account passwords.

1. Right-click on the START button and choose CONTROL PANEL option.

2. Click the CHANGE ACCOUNT TYPE link.

3. Click the secured Sign On account that you want to remove its password, in this case, click PXV icon.

4. Click the CHANGE THE PASSWORD link.

5. Type the current password into the "Current password" field box.

6. Click CHANGE PASSWORD button. (You will not be prompted for a password anymore the next time you sign on.)
