Put Password On Windows 8.1 Sign On Account

The regular Windows 8.1 sign on account can have their own password to protect them from unauthorized users. For security reasons, it is advisable to put passwords on them especially on the Administrator sign on account. Putting a password to the Administrator account is also necessary if you will turn on the Guest sign on account of Windows 8.1 because the computer will just bypass the sign on screen if there is no password for the Administrator account. Though putting password to the sign on accounts is not a fool proof thing, it will still give a first line of defense against breach on your computer because you will never know if when you will forget to leave your computer with other people around. If you are going to turn your back on your computer for just a few minutes, you can simply sign off so that you do not have to turn off the computer, then come back and just sign on with your password. By doing this, you have saved yourself from security troubles.

Here are the steps to put a password to the Administrator sign on account on Windows 8.1.

1. Right-click on the START button and choose CONTROL PANEL option.


2. Click the CHANGE ACCOUNT TYPE link.


3. Click the icon for your Administrator account, which in this case is the PXV icon. As you will notice, it is indicated as "Local Account Administrator".


4. Click the CREATE A PASSWORD link.


5. Type your desired password into the field boxes provided.


6. Click the CREATE PASSWORD button.

You will now see that the PXV Local Account Administrator is Password protected.
