The Run Box On Windows 8.1

The Run box also known as run command is a GUI interface that function like the DOS console to directly open an application or document. The Run box was introduced on Windows 95 and can be accessed directly from the Start menu. However, the Run option was not directly available from the Start menu anymore starting from Windows Vista, which was replaced by Search option that is almost similar in functionality. On Windows 8.1, the Run option can be accessed through the alternate Start menu. An example on how to use the Run box is by accessing a drive or path with it by typing C: in the Run box and hit the ENTER key of the keyboard, this will open the File Explorer with the contents of the C: drive.

Here are the steps to open the Run box on Windows 8.1.

1. Right-click on the START button and choose RUN option.

The Run box will open where you can now type the command you need to execute.
