Missing File Explorer Ribbon On Windows 8.1

The toolbar ribbon is a new way of presenting the items under a menu where the items are iconized in a long horizontal strip. The toolbar ribbon is now being adapted by new software though others still continue to use the old method where the items are enumerated in a vertical pull down menu. When the toolbar ribbon was introduced in Microsoft Office, it was a bit confusing and some did not like it which is the normal reaction on anything that is new. In the new toolbar ribbon, it is quicker to access the items under a menu by using the mouse, however, it consume a quite amount of space in the toolbar. The toolbar ribbon is on in the File Explorer by default.

The toolbar ribbon of the File Explorer is hidden.

Here are the steps to show the File Explorer ribbon on Windows 8.1 if it is hidden.

1. Click the icon that looks like a little triangle pointing downwards, then click the MINIMIZE THE RIBBON to remove the check in its tick box.

The toolbar ribbon of File Explorer is now displayed.
