Determine Number Of Processors On Windows 8.1 (Device Manager)

The processor is the brain of the computer where all of the arithmetic and logical processes goes through. Processors are measured through their clock speed in MHz or GHz. As years goes by, there came dual core processors, quad core processors, and so on so that they will be able to handle multiple processes at the same time. A dual core processor means that there are two processors sandwiched into one processor. However, it does not mean that your programs will run faster on a computer with multicore processor if those programs were not designed for multicore processors. Only programs that were designed to benefit on multicore processors will be able to utilize all the cores that a processor have.

Here are the steps to determine the number of processors through the Device Manager of Windows 8.1.

1. Right-click on the START button located in the bottom left corner of the screen and choose DEVICE MANAGER option.

2. Find and double-click the PROCESSORS category to expand it.

In this case, it is showing that there are four "AMD E2-6110 APU with AMD Radeon R2 Graphics" listed, which means it is a Quad Core processor.
