The LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) have their native screen resolution where they can best project images. The higher the native screen resolution of the LCD, the crispier the images will become, but the text will look very small and this will be a problem to people with poor eyesight. One solution to this is to lower the screen resolution through the graphics adapter settings of the computer to make everything big but this will make images rough. Therefore, the best way to resolve this is to make the text and other items larger instead through the Display settings of the Appearance and Personalization option of the Windows 8.1 operating system. In this manner, the LCD will retain its native screen resolution while the text and other items will become bigger. The Wallpaper, and the Start and Apps screen will not be affected by this setting.
Here are the steps to set text and other items larger on Windows 8.1.
1. Right-click on a free area of the Desktop and choose SCREEN RESOLUTION option.

2. Click the MAKE TEXT AND OTHER ITEMS LARGER OR SMALLER link.

3. Click the tick box labeled "Let me choose one scaling level for all my displays" to put a check in it.

4. Click the radio dial labeled "Medium - 125%" to mark it.

5. Click the APPLY button.

6. Click SIGN OUT NOW button. (Or you can restart the computer.)
