Fix Internet Connection Using Windows 8.1 Troubleshooter

There are many factors that will affect your ability to connect to the internet ranging from the browser, hardware, ISP, so forth and so on. Troubleshooting this kind of problem is not quite easy because of the too many factors involved. If in case you are not able to access a website, you can try to access other websites to see if you are able to access them or not so that you can easily get an idea if the problem is only on the website that you were trying to access or not. It is also advisable to have more than one browser installed on the computer other than the default Internet Explorer browser of the Windows 8.1 operating system so that you can also use them to test if you can access websites with them or not. More often than not, the most common factor with internet connection problems is the ISP or the Internet Service Provider where they could be experiencing issues on their end. Microsoft has been improving the Windows operating systems to include automatic troubleshooters for common computing problems such as internet connection issues. If you are a person who is not very good at troubleshooting internet connection issues, you can try using the Windows 8.1 troubleshooter first before calling your ISP's technical support because it is most likely that this is one of the first things that they will ask you to do first.

Here are the steps to run the Windows 8.1 troubleshooter to fix issues with the internet connection.

1. Right-click the START button located on the bottom left corner and choose CONTROL PANEL option.


2. Click the FIND AND FIX PROBLEMS link.


3. Click the CONNECT TO THE INTERNET link.


4. Click the NEXT button.


5. Click the TROUBLESHOOT MY CONNECTION TO THE INTERNET button.


The internet connection troubleshooter will now scan for problems.


6. Click the APPLY THIS FIX button to fix the problem, which in this case, the troubleshooter will turn on the wireless capability. (Depending on what the troubleshooter found on your computer will depend on your next action.)
