Do Not Combine Taskbar Labels On Windows 8.1

The Windows 8.1 Taskbar is the horizontal strip located in the bottom of the screen that has the START button on its left end and the time on its right end with colorful icons in between. The Windows 8.1 Taskbar looks and behaves differently from the Taskbar of Windows XP. By default, the icon of an application that is opened will show up in the Taskbar, and opening another instance of the same application will just stack another icon over the other in the Taskbar. Unlike in Windows XP, an instance of an opened application will each be represented by a label in the Taskbar, which is easier to open them. On Windows 8.1, it is still possible to set the Taskbar to show labels instead for each instance of opened applications.

Here are the steps to set the Windows 8.1 Taskbar not to combine labels of the same opened application.

1. Right-click on an empty area of the Taskbar and choose PROPERTIES option.

2. Click on the pull down menu labeled "Taskbar buttons:" and choose NEVER COMBINE option.

3. Click OK button.

The labels for the Notepad application are now separated.
