Determine Graphics Adapter (Video Card) On Windows 8.1

The Graphics Adapter also known as Video Card is the hardware that is responsible in rendering images to the screen of the computer. Most motherboards now adays, particularly those for personal computers, already have a graphics adapter onboard. This means that the graphics adapter is already part of the motherboard unlike during many years ago where the graphics adapter was a separate part. However, if you will want to play top tier games like Medal of Honor, Halo, etc.; you will most likely need to have a specialized graphics adapter that can handle these games. Gaming graphics adapter, also known as video cards, have their own memory modules and some even have their own processors. Video cards have evolved from Advanced Graphics Port (AGP) to Peripheral Component Interconnect Express, or PCI Express (PCIe) that are much faster. You can determine if what are the capabilities of your computer by also knowing if what kind of graphics adapter it have.

Here are the steps to determine the Graphics Adapter of the computer on Windows 8.1 operating system.

1. Right-click on a free area of the desktop view and choose SCREEN RESOLUTION option.


2. Click the ADVANCED SETTINGS link to open the dialogue box showing the adapter type.


The Graphics Adapter (Video Card) is an AMD Radeon (TM) R2 Graphics.
