Adjust Screen (Monitor) Brightness On Windows 8.1

The monitor of the computer is also called screen which used to be CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) in the older days until the LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) replaced them. The brightness of the LCD screen can be adjusted brighter or dimmer by adjusting the brightness of its backlight. Older LCD uses CFL (Compact Fluorescent Lamp) as their backlight and newer LCD uses LED (Light Emitting Diodes) which are more durable and consumes little energy. Older LCD followed the aspect ratio of the CRT displays until the wide screen format replaced the full screen format. LCD monitors today have become affordable and varies in sizes. On a laptop, the Windows 8.1 operating system can automatically adjusts the brightness of the screen dimmer if it is operating on a battery to conserve energy. There are many ways to adjust the brightness of the screen and one way is through the mobility center of the Windows 8.1 but the adjustment made here is supposed to be temporary only.

Here are the steps to adjust the screen (monitor) brightness on Windows 8.1 through the mobility center.

1. Right-click on the START button and choose MOBILITY CENTER option.


2. Move the slider for the "Display brightness" to your desired brightness.


3. Click the X button of the Windows Mobility Center window to close it.
