Set Windows 8.1 Taskbar To Auto-Hide

The Windows 8.1 Taskbar is the horizontal strip at the bottom of the screen that has the START button on its left end and the time on the right end, and has many colorful icons in between. The Taskbar is located at the bottom of the screen by default but you can move it to top location or on either side of the screen. Other than the desktop view, the Taskbar is the first place where you can start to navigate the inner capabilities of the Windows 8.1 operating system. The programs that you open are represented by an icon in the Taskbar so that you can access them even if the programs are on top of each other making the ones behind not visible in the screen anymore. Another feature of the Windows Taskbar is its ability to automatically hide itself so that you will get more viewing area for your desktop.

Here are the steps to set the Taskbar to auto-hide on Windows 8.1.

1. Right-click on any empty area of the Taskbar and choose PROPERTIES option.

2. Under the TASKBAR tab, click the check box that says "Auto-hide the taskbar", then click OK button.
