The desktop icons are the small graphical images with names below them and they appear on the first screen that shows up after completely turning on the computer. The first screen that appears after completely turning on the computer is called the desktop. The size of the desktop icons on a newly installed Windows 8.1 operating system is set to Medium size. Depending on the screen resolution that the computer is set, the desktop icons looks very big for a Medium size. Having big desktop icons can easily fill up the space on the desktop. On the other hand, having smaller icons not only saves space on the desktop but they also look better if they are smaller, but this of course already depends on the user. It is easy to adjust the size of the desktop icons of the Windows 8.1 operating system by using the basic setting.
