On the new installation of the Google Chrome Version 24.0.1312.56 m, the Home icon on the toolbar is not present by default. The Home button when clicked will take you to your desired homepage that you elected in the settings page. If you have not elected any desired homepage yet, clicking the Home button will take you to the Google Chrome's default Apps page. In my case, I elect the www.google.com as my desired homepage. In this way, every time I want to go to www.google.com homepage right away to make a new search while viewing a different webpage, all I need to do is to hit on the Home icon on the toolbar. This is more convenient than typing the web address of the Google’s homepage into the web address box every time you need to go to it.
1. Click the button that has three horizontal bars in it that is located on the top right corner of the Chrome window and click the SETTINGS option.
2. Put a check in the "Show Home button" tick box by clicking on it.
3. The Home icon will now show in the toolbar. Click the X button of the Settings page to close it. The new setting will be automatically saved.
4. Clicking the HOME icon will take you to the Apps page if you did not elect your desired homepage yet.
