You can create a shortcut icon for a software installed on the computer to the desktop view so that you will just have to double-click its icon to launch it. And there are times that there are software that does not create its own shortcut icon to the desktop. Or, you did not opt to create its own shortcut icon to the desktop at the time you were installing the software. In any cases, you can always find the executable file of the software and create a shortcut icon for it to the desktop view. The only challenge you will encounter with this process is finding the executable file of the software. The common practice that the software developers are doing is naming the executable file of the software by the name of the name of the software itself. In this article, we will be using the Winamp software where its executable file is also winamp or to be specific, it is winamp.exe. Executable files have the .exe extension names, which is short for the word executable.
1. Right-click on the MY COMPUTER icon on the desktop and choose EXPLORE option.
2. Click on LOCAL DISK (C:) on the left pane.
3. Click on PROGRAM FILES folder on the left pane.
4. Scroll down the left pane until you find the WINAMP folder and click it to show its contents on the right pane.
5. Right-click on the WINAMP file on the right pane and choose SEND TO, then choose DESKTOP (CREATE SHORTCUT) option.
