Uninstall Software On Windows Vista

Uninstalling a software (sometimes called a program or application) from the computer, or should I say from the Windows operating system, is done through the Control Panel as long as the software was installed the usual fashion. Simply deleting the folders of the software under the Programs Folder is not the right way to uninstall a software because this does not remove the software from the registry of the operating system. Doing this will still make the operating system find for the software because it is still recorded in its registry. An analogy of this is when you registered to a web site that will send you a weekly newsletter. Simply blocking the e-mails from the web site does not automatically unregister you, thus of course, the web site still considers you a registered member who is still interested with the weekly newsletters.

Follow the steps below on how to uninstall a software from the Windows Vista operating system.

NOTE: Usually, you will be prompted to restart the computer after uninstalling a software, therefore, make sure to save anything that you are working on before proceeding.

1. Close the software that you want to uninstall if it is still open because the operating system will not let you uninstall a software while it is open.

2. Click START button and click CONTROL PANEL option.

3. Click the CONTROL PANEL HOME link on the top left area of the Control Panel window in case the Control Panel is in classic view.

4. Click the UNINSTALL A PROGRAM link that is under the "Programs" category.

5. Click the software that you want to uninstall to highlight it.

6. Click the UNINSTALL button and follow the on-screen instructions until it is finished. (Depending on the software that you are uninstalling, the button can also be UNINSTALL/CHANGE)
