Manually Putting Computer To Stand By Mode In Windows XP

The use of the Stand By mode option of Windows is to save power consumption. When you put the computer to Stand By mode, it will not completely turn off the computer but it will only turn off the other components of the computer like the monitor, hard drive, etc. On the other hand, it will not turn off the memory (RAM) so that the things that you are working on will still be on the computer and they will be ready for you to continue them anytime you wake up the computer. The Stand By mode option is also very helpful for laptops especially when you are traveling because it can save power consumption of the battery. One of the components of the laptop that consume more power is its LCD screen. Therefore, the Stand By mode will be helpful for the life of the battery of the laptop too.

1. Click the START button.

2. Click TURN OFF COMPUTER option.

3. Click STAND BY button.

If you want the computer to resume to its full life, just move the mouse or press any key on the keyboard.
