Set Firefox To Always Ask Where To Save Files

There is a bit difference between the characteristics of downloading files in the Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers. On the Internet Explorer, you can change where to direct the download of the file that you are downloading right after you clicked the download link. In this way, you will not end up finding the file that you downloaded, and in this way, you can also direct the download to the folder where you usually save your files. Just imagine yourself downloading a big file for twenty minutes and you cannot find it after you successfully downloaded it. Would you like to download the file again for another twenty minutes just because you cannot locate if where Firefox downloaded it?

For example, the default download folder of the Internet Explorer is set to the My Documents folder. When you click on a download link, the dialogue box that will appear is already set to download the file that you are trying to download to the My Documents folder. However, if at that point, you changed your mind to download the file directly to the My Pictures folder, you can change the download location right away right then and there.

By default, Firefox will download the file to the default download folder when you will download a file, therefore, you have to cancel the downloading and change the default download folder setting. Most of the time, you just download the file right away due to eagerness without actually knowing where the file will download. And then you do not have any idea where to locate the file afterwards.

Fortunately, you can set the Firefox browser to always ask where to download the files every time you download so that you can change the download folder any time you need to direct the download to a different location.

NOTE: In case you just installed the Firefox browser and downloaded a file but you do not know where to locate it, the default download folder of the Firefox browser is C:\Desktop\My Documents\Downloads and you can find the file there.

Here are the steps to set the Firefox 3.5.2 browser for Windows to always ask where to download the files when downloading.

2. Click the TOOLS menu on the Firefox toolbar across its top and choose OPTIONS....
