Adjust Alerts Volume On Macintosh OS X (Tiger)

The alerts sounds on the Macintosh computer can be adjusted in contrast to the general volume. This means that even if the overall volume of the computer is adjusted so high that it can wake up the whole neighborhood, the volume of the alerts sounds will not be as loud as the general volume of the computer. For example, the volume of the music playing on the computer is not as loud as the volume of the alerts sound. This is a feature that the Windows XP operating system is lacking of. That is why if you turned up the volume of the computer, the volume of the alert sound goes as loud as well.

The advantage of adjusting the alert sound in contrast to the general volume of the computer is that you can adjust the alert sound to the minimal so that they cannot interfere when you are listening to music or anything that you should be focusing to listen to. Likewise, you can turn off the alert sounds by putting it to the lowest.

Adjusting anything around the Macintosh computer is very easy, which is as easy as elementary.

1. Click the APPLE icon on the top left corner on the applications toolbar across the top and choose SYSTEM PREFERENCES...

2. Click the SOUND icon.

3. Adjust the slider bar for the "Alert volume:" to your desired volume. To turn off the alerts sound, just put the slider to the left most side.

4. Click the red ball located on the top left corner of the Sound window.
