Volume Icon Missing On Windows 10 Taskbar

The Volume icon to control the speaker sound up and down is located in the Notification Area at the right end of the Windows Taskbar. By default, the Volume icon is present after installing the Windows 10 operating system. There are many possible reasons why the Volume icon is missing from the Notification Area but the very first thing to check is if it was set to be hidden. You or other users on the computer may have inadvertently set the Volume icon to be hidden. The operating system itself may have hidden the Volume icon also because it is not utilized most often.

Here are the steps to show the Volume icon on Windows 10.

1. Right-click on any free area of the Windows Taskbar and choose TASKBAR SETTINGS option.

2. Scroll down the Taskbar window until you find the Notification area category.

3. Click the SELECT WHICH ICONS APPEAR ON THE TASKBAR link.

4. Click the switch labeled VOLUME to toggle it to on.

5. Click the red X button at the top right corner of the Settings window.

The Volume icon is now showing in the Notification Area.
