Automatically Delete Cookies & Site Data When Firefox Version 79 Is Closed

The cookies are small text files that the web browser software put to the computer when you visit websites so that these websites have a way to store their settings such as to remember the items in your shopping cart, personalization, and keep you signed on to your online accounts. If you notice that you keep seeing the same advertisements across different websites that you visit, this is because of the cookies in action. The websites are able to track your browsing activity through the cookies to streamline your browsing experience like showing you the advertisements that is suitable for you. Most websites now provides notification to the placement of these cookies for transparency and to follow the privacy laws of certain countries. The Mozilla Firefox software, just like most if not all web browsers available, provides the option to automatically erase cookies and site data when you quit it. This option is similar to browsing the internet in private window (also known as incognito on other web browsers) but with all the features of the browser available. By setting the Mozilla Firefox software to automatically delete the cookies and site data at exit, you can assure yourself with optimum privacy and security because this will automatically log you off from your online accounts even if you forgot to actually sign out.

Here are the steps to set the Mozilla Firefox web browser version 79 for Windows to automatically clear the cookies and site data every time you close it. The steps are just the same or similar to fairly older or newer versions.

1. Click on the MENU icon that looks like three horizontal lines on top of each other located at the top right corner of the Mozilla Firefox window, and then click on OPTIONS to open the preferences.


2. Click the PRIVACY & SECURITY category on the left pane. (You need to maximize the Mozilla Firefox window if the left pane is not present.)


3. Scroll down the Browser Privacy page by using the scroller on the right edge of the Mozilla Firefox window until you reach the Cookies and Site Data section.


4. Click the tick box labeled "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" to put a check in it.


5. Click the X icon located at the top right corner of the Mozilla Firefox window to exit.
