Backup Bookmarks On Mozilla Firefox Version 76 [HTML]

The Mozilla Firefox software is a free and open-source web browser that is based on the Gecko layout engine to render webpages, it is one of the most used browsers on personal computers. One of the most useful features of a browser is to be able to save the web addresses of the websites so that you do not have to memorize and type them into the web address bar every time you visit them. On most browsers, the Bookmarks section is where you can save the web addresses of the websites similar to the contacts section of a smart phone where you can save the telephone numbers of people so that you do not have to memorize them. It is recommended to make a backup copy of the Bookmarks section from time to time so that you can restore it if you will have to reinstall the browser or the operating system.

The Mozilla Firefox browser preferably saves its Bookmarks section as a JSON file which is not compatible with browsers based on the Chromium engine such as Google Chrome, Opera, and Brave. The JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) file format is simply a text file for storing data that is compatible with other programming languages, however, Chromium based browsers preferably saves their Bookmarks section in HTML format. The HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) is a markup language for designing webpages, it is also a text file that can be viewed in a browser. On the other hand, the Mozilla Firefox browser also offers the capability to save its Bookmarks section as an HTML file and it can be used to transfer the saved bookmarks to Chromium based browsers.

Here are the steps to make a backup copy of the Bookmarks section of the Mozilla Firefox browser version 76 as an HTML file, these steps are just the same or similar to the fairly older or newer version.

1. Click the MENU icon that looks like three horizontal lines on top of each other located at the top right corner of the Mozilla Firefox window. Then click on LIBRARY option. (Alternatively, you can press the CTRL and SHIFT keys of the keyboard at the same time, while pressing them, hit the letter B key. Jump to Step 4 afterwards.)

2. Click the BOOKMARKS option.

3. Click the SHOW ALL BOOKMARKS option.

4. Click the "Import and Backup" pull down menu and choose EXPORT BOOKMARKS TO HTML... option.

5. The HTML file will be named "bookmarks" by default and you can change it as well as choose the folder where you want to save it. Otherwise, click the SAVE button.
