Fix No Sound Problem Using Windows 8.1 Auto Fix

If there is no system sounds coming out of the speakers of your laptop or desktop computer, like those chimes and bells when you make mistakes, or even when you play MP3 files using Winamp, you can easily troubleshoot this problem by using the automatic troubleshooter of the Windows 8.1 operating system. Unlike before, there are many things that you need to check one by one in troubleshooting the sound problem such as checking the volume setting of the computer, the volume knob if you have external speakers connected and if they are firmly connected to the audio port, and so on. The automatic troubleshooter is reliable enough to find and automatically fix the sound problems by checking all the settings and devices needed in producing audio. If the automatic fix was not able to find the problem since it only relies on known problems and there is no fool proof system, you have to manually troubleshoot the problem. You should not overlook the obvious when troubleshooting like making sure if the external speakers of your desktop is plugged to the electrical outlet.

Here are the steps to run the automatic troubleshooter of the Windows 8.1 to fix no sound problem.

1. Right-click on the START button that is usually located on the bottom left corner of the screen, then choose CONTROL PANEL option.


2. Click the FIND AND FIX PROBLEMS option under the "System and Security" category of the Control Panel window. (If this option is not available, make sure that your Control Panel window is set to Category view. Click the "View by:" pull down menu on the top right side and choose CATERGORY view.)


3. Click the TROUBLESHOOT AUDIO PLAYBACK option under the "Hardware and Sound" category.


4. Click the NEXT button.


The automatic troubleshooter will run detecting problems such as audio service status, audio devices status, and so on.




5. Once the automatic troubleshooter is done, it will present the problem it has found and the action taken. Click the CLOSE button.
