Allow A Program On Windows Firewall On Windows XP

The Windows Firewall is the default firewall software of the Windows XP operating system. The Windows Firewall blocks unsolicited request to connect to your computer to protect it. Since the Windows Firewall restricts communication between your computer and the internet, there are times that you need to adjust the settings for a specific program that requires unrestricted connection to the internet. For example, you may experience a problem on a specific program because it needs to connect to the internet but the Windows Firewall is blocking it. In this case, you can add the program on the Windows Firewall so that they can communicate through the Windows Firewall.

Here are the steps to add a program on the Windows Firewall on Windows XP.

1. Click the START button and choose CONTROL PANEL option.

2. Click the SECURITY CENTER link.

3. Click the WINDOWS FIREWALL link.

4. Click the EXCEPTIONS tab.

5. Click on the program that you want to add and click the OK button.

6. Click the OK button to close the Windows Firewall dialogue box.
