Use Own Picture As Desktop Background (Wallpaper) On Windows XP

The desktop background which is also known as the wallpaper of the Windows XP is the background picture of the screen after turning on the computer. By default, the green meadow is the wallpaper of Windows and you can change it anytime with a different picture. The wallpaper picture is nothing but an ordinary picture that is why you can use your personal pictures as your wallpaper. Since the digital pictures consumes high memory storage, they therefore consume some percentage of the memory resources of the computer. But today's computers where their memories are at more than two gigabytes, this shall not be a problem at all. Actually, this was never a problem at all even during the days where the computer's memory were as low as 32 MB.

Here are the steps to customize the desktop background (wallpaper) of Windows XP by using your own picture.

1. Click the START button and choose CONTROL PANEL option.


2. Click the APPEARANCE AND THEMES category link.


3. Click the CHANGE THE DESKTOP BACKGROUND link.


4. Click the BROWSE... button.


5. Navigate to the location of the picture that you and want to use as your wallpaper, which in this case, double-click on the SAMPLE PICTURES folder.


6. Click on your picture, which in this case, click on the BLUE HILS file, then click OPEN button.


7. Click the OK button of the Display Properties window to apply the new wallpaper.
