If you have a computer and others also have to use it like at home, it is best to create user accounts for each users so that they will have their own privacy. Other users will not be able to mess with other users' files and programs because each user accounts can have their own passwords to use to log on to their accounts. Each user accounts can customize the looks of their screen without affecting other users, can have their own web favorites and recently visited sites, and their own computer settings. Before you create new user accounts, it is necessary that the administrator account which is created by default on a newly installed Windows XP is password protected, else the privacy of the other user accounts is useless. Each user accounts will show up in the Welcome screen for them to log on and individually on each account holder's Start menu.
Here are the steps to create a new Windows XP user account.
1. Click the START button and click CONTROL PANEL option.

2. Click the USER ACCOUNTS link.

3. Click the CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT link.

4. Type the name of the new user account into the "Type a name for the new account:" field box and click the NEXT button.

5. Click the "Limited" radio dial to mark it and then click the CREATE ACCOUNT button.

Here are the steps to create a new Windows XP user account.
