Set Internet Explorer As Default Browser On Windows 8.1

The Internet Explorer program is the default browser software of the Windows 8.1 operating system which are both product of the Microsoft Corporation. In the early days of the internet, there was a time that was called browser war between Netscape and Internet Explorer which the later has won and has become the most used browser in the world today. Since the Internet Explorer is preinstalled on every Microsoft operating systems, it is just natural for people to use it especially those who are not internet savvy and does not know anything about browsers or the internet. One of the features that I like with the Internet Explorer is to be able to save a webpage into a single file (a .mhtml file). There is also another browser like the Opera browser (some older versions) that can save webpages into .mhtml files and this cannot be done on Firefox and Chrome browsers which hopefully this feature will be added to them. If you will install another browser on your computer, one of the options that will be asked to you during the installation is if you want it to be the default browser on your computer where you have the option to accept it or not. If in case you accepted it and you want to revert to the Internet Explorer as the default browser of your computer, you can do this through the Control Panel.

Here are the steps to set the Microsoft Internet Explorer as the default browser of Windows 8.1.

1. Right-click on the START button located on the bottom left corner of the screen and choose CONTROL PANEL option.

2. Click the PROGRAMS link.

3. Click the DEFAULT PROGRAMS link.

4. Click the SET PROGRAM ACCESS AND COMPUTER DEFAULTS link.

5. Click the radio dial labeled "Custom" category.

6. Click the "Internet Explorer" radio dial.

7. Click OK button.
