The folders icon on Windows operating systems are typically yellow in color and it is possible to change their icon to a different one. If you have a folder that contains important files in it, you can change its icon to a different one so that it will stand out among other folders. For example, I have a folder on the desktop where all the documents that are for printing will be saved, and I will change the icon of this folder to the icon of a printer, which is readily available on Windows 8.1 operating system. In this way, I can easily spot the folder on the desktop, that it will appear like it is also one of the application’s icons there, and that it is more understandable that the files in it are for printing. This feature can also be used to mask a folder that is on the desktop for privacy reasons. If people see a folder on your desktop, obviously they will think that you have files in it that they may want to see. If you change the icon of the folder to the one that only looks like a shortcut to one of the programs installed on your computer, they might not even bother about it.
Here are the steps to change the icon of a folder on Windows 8.1.
