Remove Item On Left Column Of Windows XP Start Menu

If you click the Start button that is located on the bottom left corner of your screen, the colorful Start menu will open with different icons with their corresponding names on their right side. The items on the left column of the Start menu are grouped into two where the items in the lower group are automatically added every time you open a program whose icon is not yet listed there. For example, if you open the Paint program for the first time, the Windows XP operating system will automatically list its icon in the lower group of the left column of the Start menu. In this way, you can easily open the Paint program again the next time you will need to use it. The operating system was programmed to pool the icons of the programs that you often use under the Start menu for easy access. However, you can always remove any items listed on the left column of the Start menu anytime you wish. Do not worry, this will just remove the icon of the program from the Start menu but it will not uninstall the program itself from your computer.

Here are the steps to remove items from the left column of the Start menu.

1. Click the START button to open the menu.

2. Right-click on the item that you want to be removed, then choose the REMOVE FROM THIS LIST option. The icon will be removed right away. You can do the same for the other icons that you want to be removed.
