Adjust Or Turn On/Off Volume On Macintosh OS X (Tiger)

Other than being able to adjust or turn on and off the sound on the Macintosh computer through its keyboard, it can also be adjusted through its System Preferences panel. It is always the goal of the Apple designers to make things very simple on the Macintosh operating system. And there was a joke that Macintosh computers are for the dummies because the Macintosh is so easy to use that even a kindergarten can play around with it right away. Of course that is a joke! Why build a computer that is so difficult to use anyway, isn't they were made to make life easier? And that is what I think Macintosh computers are all about.

1. Click the APPLE icon on the top left corner on the applications toolbar across the top and choose SYSTEM PREFERENCES...

2. Click the SOUND icon.

3. Adjust the slider bar for the "Output volume:" to your desired volume loudness.

To turn off the general volume, just put the slider to the left most side or put a check in the little box of the MUTE option instead. So that if in case you need to turn on the volume again, just remove the check in its box and return to the original volume loudness.

4. Click the red ball located on the top left corner of the Sound window.
